Description: This oil painting depicts a Porsche 911 Carrera in the Gulf livery as it sits in the garage awaiting its next race. Based on a reference photo from motorsports photographer, Rob Woodham, this painting features the brightly colored car against a relatively monotone backdrop. The juxtaposition of the car in this setting is what really intrigued me about the reference photo. It just does such a great job of highlighting the car in what would otherwise be a somewhat mundane setting. That, and, let’s be honest, the Gulf livery really is the best. In keeping with the continuing evolution of my painting style, I once again focused on loose brush strokes to capture the essence of the scene and give the impression of detail, while prioritizing color and tone.
