Description: This oil painting depicts a lobster boat heading out on calm waters on a warm summer day. Based on a picture I took in August 2025 in Portland, ME, this painting reflects the authenticity and tradition of one of Maine’s most iconic industries. Prior to taking the reference photo for this painting, my wife and I watch the crew of this boat load up with bait for the day’s activities. Watching the crew maneuver the boat away from the docks and into Casco Bay, reflecting the warm sunrise light, was a peaceful sight. I have to imagine that the crew on that boat truly appreciated their profession on that morning and the wonderful moments it brings them while working outside in such a beautiful setting.
