Tom Alberi is what one might consider a polymath — an engineer with an analytical mind, an artist with an untamed creative spirit, a woodworker with a unique process, and a digital music producer with a passion for harmony, among other dimensions. A self-taught artist with no formal art training since a middle school classroom at the age of 14, Tom’s artistic background is rooted in raw passion and relentless self-discovery, proving that creativity knows no boundaries.

A proud Hokie, Tom earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech, where he honed a meticulous approach to problem-solving, design, and innovation. Yet, college was more than equations and CAD models — it was a proving ground for discipline and drive. As a member of the Virginia Tech swim team, Tom approached training and competition with the same intensity he now brings to the canvas, culminating in a Division I All-American Honorable Mention in his senior year. The pool taught him resilience and determination, two characteristics that have served him well after graduation.

In his artwork, Tom bridges the precision of engineering with the fluidity of imagination. Some pieces pulse with technical ingenuity, where principles of mechanics and structure inform intricate compositions through code and digitally rendered outputs. Others surrender to the spontaneity of impressionism, with loose brushstrokes and vibrant hues that capture fleeting moments and exhilarating motion. This duality is his signature: a dance between control and chaos, logic and emotion.

Tom’s art invites you to see the world through his eyes — a place where engineering and artistry collide, where every stroke tells a story of passion, exploration, and relentless self-improvement. Explore his collection and discover a mind that continually pursues the apex of artistic vision.
