Title: A View of the Beartooth Mountains
Medium: Acrylic Paint on Canvas
Size: 40” x 30”
Year: 2014
Description: This was the first acrylic painting I ever attempted. This one was based on a reference photo that I took while visit the ranch where my father grew up in Red Lodge, MT. As the reference photo was taken during the summer, smoke rolling in from wildfires far away resulted in increased atmospheric scattering of lights, emphasizing the blue tones and reducing the contrast in distant objects. The hay bales are one of my favorite parts of this painting, given the mix of colors applied to realistically represent them.
