Description: One of the struggles of an emerging artist is just getting your name out there. In an attempt to gain some more public exposure, I teamed with Purmotive to create a custom painting that they can display in their showroom. Working with their team, I was able to gain access to their automotive shop and take a bunch of reference pictures. It was a wonderful experience in which I was able to see some amazing cars up close but also talk with some members of the team and one of their customers who was helping work on his Porsche GT3. After taking dozens of reference pictures, I worked with the Purmotive team to down-select to an image that does a great job capturing the range of vehicles they work on every day. Ove the course of 34+ hours, I planned and painted the scene. I think my favorite part, to be honest, was painting the shop towels on the Jaguar XK120. I know that probably sounds weird, but I had fun playing with loose brush strokes while getting the folds, lighting, and shadows just right (the cars were a lot of fun to paint too ;)).
