Title: Blue and Gold Abstract
Medium: Acrylic Paint on Canvas
Size: 40” x 30”
Year: 2014
Description: This was an attempt at experimenting with abstract painting, with the goal of featuring a contrast of warm and cool colors. Gold paint was selected to augment the emphasis of the warm tones against the muted shades of blue in the background. Copper paint was also used as a rough border between the blue and gold colors to soften the transition between cool and warm tones. While somewhat fun and interesting to paint (not to mention that I generally like the end result), I’ve determined that abstract painting is likely not my favorite subject, as this particular painting did not present much of a challenge for my artistic skills. In pursuit of progressing my painting talent, I’ve determined that I must focus on subjects that push my capabilities more. Maybe I’ll revisit abstract painting in the future.
