Title: Baltimore Tugboat

Medium: Oil Pastel and Colored Pencil on Bristol Vellum

Size: 14” x 11”

Year: 2013

Description: Having lived in Maryland for several years by this point, I was in the mood to create some artwork based on local subject matter. I found the reference photo for this drawing somewhere online (forgive me, but I do not recall where - please let me know if you find it). In particular, the reference photo caught my eye not only for the subject, but also due to the contrast between cooler colors on the left side against the warm lighting on the right side. I spent a significant amount of time on this one, as I wanted to capture the details of the scene. While oil pastels were used for the vast majority of this drawing, more detailed parts required the use of colored pencils.
